Distance

This week’s task was ‘Distance’. This theme was set to challenge the students’ control of ‘Depth of Field’. DOF can be controlled by 3 things in photography and students had to get creative with controlling these techniques to get different looks that demonstrated depth of field. We had a lot of entries to the gallery of shots but only two can go through.

Here are the winners:

The people’s vote for this assignment goes to Stacey Beney for this shot looking out into the Thames Estuary. The warm sky and the Geese flying through the shot really add to this scene. A great shot with a lovely feeling and matches the theme perfect, well done!

My vote this time goes to Stephanie Eastlake for this cracking shot of some gulls resting on a mudbank. Really great response to the theme. Using a wide aperture and narrow field of view has helped create a shallow depth of field here. Great response to the theme 👍
