Near and Far

This week’s assignment was ‘Near and Far’. I set this theme to test student’s control of ‘Depth of Field’ whilst being creative! DOF is the amount of distance within an image that is sharp and is controlled by 3 things within photography. Students had to control those 3 techniques to show a sense of distance within the image.

We had some excellent entries but there can only be two!!

The winning images from our gallery are…..

The peoples vote goes to Paul Baker for this great take on the theme showing the sea wall going off into the distance. Great work!

My vote goes to Sophie Fisher for this lovely shot of a pile of cockle shells. I love this shot for its feeling of the working English coastline. It’s quite an unusual thing to see and just reminds us that the coast is also a working environment as well a pleasure one. Great response to the theme.
