Long and Shallow

This week’s assignment was ‘Long and Shallow’. I set this theme to test student’s control of ‘Depth of Field’ whilst being creative! DOF is the amount of distance within an image that is sharp and is controlled by 3 things within photography. Students had to control those 3 techniques to show a sense of distance within their photography.

We had some excellent entries but there can only be two!!

The winning images from our gallery are…..

The peoples vote goes to Sarah Watkins for this great take on the theme showing an extreme shallow DOF focusing on these shells. Creative response to the theme, well done.

My vote goes to Kim Saville for this lovely shot of a boat through foliage. I love this as it totally meets the theme by showing long and shallow DOF in one shot and for its feeling of the English coastline. Great response to the theme Kim, well done.
