Our Conclusion

Cons

  • The BenQ SW321C is a big and heavy monitor. You’re going to need a big desk! If you are looking for something light and thin, this isn’t it!

  • It’s expensive. At the time of this review, it’s retailing at £1599. Having said that though, this is not made for the beginner, part time photographer. It is a pro monitor and will suit people who are doing this as a profession, or people who are rich and just want the best!

Pros

  • The BenQ SW321C is a serious piece of kit. It’s solid and sturdy and will stand the test of time.

  • If you are thinking of printing or already do print your pictures, then this monitor will give you more colour accuracy and colours will be more vivid than using standard SRGB monitor. The Paper Colour Sync feature will also be beneficial to the printing photographer as it is designed to reduce waste.

  • If you’re editing your photography this will help as it’s a higher resolution than a normal Full HD monitor. In short, you can see more detail. To learn Photoshop and Lightroom with ease, click here.

  • You can easily see your imagery and work in different colour spaces using the hot puck key.

  • The screen hood is great!

  • Overall the SW321C is a great piece of kit and is definitely the best photographers monitor I have used. Yes, it’s pricey and let’s face it, the monitor is not going to make your photography any better only your knowledge will improve your photography. But you’re getting extra colour, extra detail and much more space when viewing your photography. You’re also getting an easy way to view your pictures in different colour spaces and these are things that don’t come with many monitors.

Is it worth the extra money? You are going to have to decide that I’m afraid. You’re going to have to think about what you do with your photography and if these extra features would help you out.

I hope this review has helped you out. I will end by saying this, the SW321C will help out any professional photographer looking to print or edit photography work and will also benefit the video editors out there. However, if you’re on a low budget or not looking at taking photography that seriously, you may want to opt for a cheaper HD monitor.
