Description
Our Beginners Guide Photography Book is an easy to digest, comprehensive guide for students and teachers of photography. Using this book will show students how to control every element of their camera and apply the knowledge learnt to any photographic situation, enabling them to create stunning imagery and gain high grades in GCSE photography.
How does it work?
As with a science textbook, students read through the chapters, complete the tasks when prompted, then present their findings for teachers to assess.
Plus, there are free video tutorials to help students further understand and practice the art of photography.

About the Author
Hi, I’m Marc Newton and I run the team here at TSOP. I’m a photographer, an educational speaker, author, teacher of photography and I run teacher training days for teachers of GCSE and A Level photography.
Teaching Photography has been my passion for many years. I got my first paid photography job in 1997 whilst doing my photography degree, but in 2002 I decided to give teaching a go and I haven’t looked back since. I loved seeing the stunning imagery my students produced. I found the process of teaching filled me with a real sense of joy, and it still does today.
I wanted to take all of this teaching experience and offer it up to a wider audience, so in 2012, I left the classroom and started The School of Photography and now I teach this beautiful craft to people all over the world.
My qualifications are as follows:
With more than 19 years' experience in teaching photography, rest assured you're in the best possible hands.

“Making the complicated - Simple! I am not new to photography and by no means an expert but felt that I did need to understand more. It’s simple to understand, covering real technical aspects that I had really struggled with in the past and just made it so simple to read the descriptions, also having excellent pictures and diagrams to help me understand more. 10/10 from me and I am now considering one of the online lessons too.” - Richard Hawes – UK

“A must have! A must have for any aspiring photographer or anyone who is looking to further hone their photography skills. This guide contains everything that you need to know and is presented in an easy to follow format using simple yet effective language. The tasks that are set out in the book are a great way to test what you have learnt and really help the information sink in. I have already seen an improvement in the photos that I am taking. Thank you for creating such a fabulous book, the only thing I would wish for is that it was made available years ago!” – Kevin Colborne - UK
