Into the Distance

This week’s task was ‘Into the Distance’. This theme was set to challenge the students’ control of ‘Depth of Field’. DOF is controlled by 3 things in photography and students had to control all these techniques creatively to get different looks showing things going into the distance.

We had a lot of entries to the gallery of shots, but only two can go through!

The people’s vote for this assignment goes to Alex Bonner for this shot. It’s a great response to theme, with the focus point being quite literally into the distance. Bonus points for using the great composition technique of shooting through something. A deserving win for Alex!

My vote for this goes to Rebecca Kennedy for this shot looking over the estuary. The lighting was very flat and bright when taking this shot so I chose this as it shows how you can get a good result despite tricky lighting scenarios, just by changing your viewpoint and having some foreground interest. Great job Rebecca.
